그러면 어떻게 불러야 좋을까?
그리스어로 일요일을 퀴리아케, 퀴리오스는 주님인데, 주님의 날이란 뜻이다.
스페인어로 일요일은 도밍고인데, 라틴어 dominus(주인)는 기독교에서는 주(主, Lord)님을 뜻한다. Anno Domini는 '주님이 오신 해의 그 이후'라는 의미가 되는 것이다.
영어, 라트비아. 라틴어, 독일어, 스웨덴 등 유럽 대부분에서는 태양의 날 또는 일주일의 첫째날이란 뜻이다.
그런데 특이하게 러시아에서는 일요일을 바스크레세니예 부활일이라고 부른다. 정확한 표현이다.
주님께서 부활하신 날이 바로 일요일이다.
예수님께서 안식후 첫째날 부활하셨는데 그날이 일요일이다.
우리가 일요일 마다 모여서 예배드리는 것도 바로 예수님께서 부활하신 날을 기념하여 축하하기 위해서다.
그 전에는 안식일 토요일에 모여서 예배를 드렸다. 예배드리는 날이 토요일에서 일요일로 바꿔졌다. 토요일은 안식이라는 의미에서 아무것도 하지 않고 예배하는 날이었지만, 일요일은 예수님께서 안식하신 후 부활하시고 사람들에게 나타나시어 부활을 증거 하셨다.
그것은 더이상 우리의 신앙이 안식만을 위한 신앙이 아니라 부활의 신앙이 되어야 함을 보여주신 것이다.
그래서 예배하는 날도 자연스럽게 제7일 토요일에서 일요일로 바껴진 것이다.
아이의 백일이 가까워지면 그 백일이 중요한 날이지만 1년이 지난 후에는 생일이 중요한 날이다. 그러다가 죽으면 떠난 날이 중요한 날이 된다. 그런데 만약 그 사람이 다시 살아난다고 하면 그 날이 더 중요한 날이 되는 것이고 그날이 생일이 되는 것이다.
그것럼 예수님께서 다시 사신 날이 우리에게는 중요하다.
안식일교에서는 우리보고 일월신교라고 하는데, 그것은 그들의 착각이다. 일월신교도 있지만 우리는 태양을 섬기는 사람이 아니라 부활을 믿는, 그리고 부활의 삶을 사는 사람들이다.
버스를 탄다고 버스 기사는 아니다. 승객도 버스를 탄다. 그런데 버스를 탄다고 우리를 버스 기사라고 생각하는 것과 같다.
그렇다면 안식일교는 기독교가 아니고 유대교라고 말할 수 있는 것이다.
예배하는데 무슨 날이 중요하냐하고 묻는 사람이 있을 것이다.
우리는 모든 날 주님을 예배할 수 있지만 일주일 중에 하루를 선정해서 공예배를 드여야 한다고 생각할때 어떤 날을 선택하는 것이 좋을까?
토요일? 일요일? 둘 중에 하나인데, 당연히 일요일이다. 안식일은 우리를 위해 주님이 주신 날이지만 일요일은 예수님이 부활하신 날이므로 그날이 주일이 되어야 한다.
그래서 우리는 일요일을 주일로 지키는 것이다.
